Preparation
1 Synthesis of methyl vanillate. Vanillic acid (6.72 g, 40 mmol), 60 ml of anhydrous methanol and five drops of concentrated sulfuric acid (catalyst) were mixed in a round bottom flask and the solution was refluxed for 8 h.
