Cyanoacetamide
₹2,600.00
Applications
Cyanoacetamide is used in spectrofluorimetric methods to determine the activity of antihistamine H1 receptor antagonistic drugs such as ebastine, cetirizine dihydrochloride and fexofenadine hydrochloride.
Description
Cyanoacetamide is the starting reagent for vitamin B6 synthesis[1]. It reacts with reducing carbohydrates in borate buffer to give intense fluorescence andis useful for the automated analysis of carbohydrates as borate complexes[2].
Preparation
Cyanoacetamide is prepared without additional catalyst by esterification of crude cyanoacetic acid with a monohydric alcohol which forms an azeotrope with water and has 4 to 10 carbon atoms, reacting the resulting ester with ammonia in the presence of a basic catalyst to give cyanoacetamide, and work-up by a mechanical
Chemical Properties
Cyanoacetamide exhibits various chemical properties, including its ability to participate in reactions such as nucleophilic addition, amidine formation, and condensation reactions, making it valuable in organic synthesis and pharmaceutical research.
Definition
Cyanoacetamide is a chemical compound with the formula C3H4N2O, consisting of a cyano group (-CN) attached to an acetamide moiety, and it is used in organic synthesis and as a reagent in chemical reactions.
