Cerium(IV) sulfate is a chemical compound used in many industries, including:
  • Catalysts: Cerium(IV) sulfate can catalyze the selective oxidation of secondary alcohols to ketones. It can also catalyze the direct sulfonation of methane to methanesulfonic acid.
  • Oxidizing agent: Cerium(IV) sulfate is often used as an oxidizing agent in titrimetric methods. The orange color of cerium(IV) ion is reduced to the colorless cerium(III) ion.
  • Redox indicator: Cerium(IV) sulfate is used in analytical chemistry for redox titrations. It is often used together with a redox indicator.
  • Cerium salt raw material: Cerium(IV) sulfate hydrate powder is used as a cerium salt raw material.
  • Cemented carbide additive: Cerium(IV) sulfate hydrate powder is used as a cemented carbide additive.
  • Chemical reagents: Cerium(IV) sulfate hydrate powder is used as a chemical reagent.
