Preparation
A manufacturing method of acamprosate calcium comprises steps of: (1) reacting acetic anhydride, calciumacetate and homo taurine; and (2) obtaining acamprosate calcium from the acetylation reaction product. In the step (1), the acetic anhydride is used as a solvent.

Acamprosate calcium is a white crystalline powder with high solubility in water, commonly used in pharmaceuticals to help maintain abstinence from alcohol by modulating glutamate neurotransmission in the brain.
