Oleamidopropyl betaine is a non-ionic surfactant. It is used in pharmaceutical preparations as a viscosity agent, and as an ingredient in skin conditioners. Oleamidopropyl betaine has been shown to have the ability to reduce the dry weight of wheat germ by up to 50%. The fatty acid content of oleamidopropyl betaine is about 40% and it contains one hydroxyl group and two sulfonic acids per molecule. This product has a pH of 3-4 and can be used with hydrochloric acid or sodium citrate to adjust its pH.
Oleamidopropyl Betaine is a zwitterion (inner salt).
